Anyone familiar with this archeological site?

I couldn't find anything on it while doing some extensive online searches. A friend mentioned it might be a primitive federal survey station from 2-3 hundred years ago. Attached are a few photos if anyone recognizes the architecture. The photos were taken somewhere around Sedona… I hesitate to give the precise location because it really was in pristine condition. There were retaining walls stacked with local stone surrounding an elevated position along a canyon piedmont. The site was approximately 100x50 yards. The image with what appears to be a man-made hole in the rock had faint burn marks around the hole. Central to the site was what appeared to be a common area sectioned off with small rocks. No roads or footpaths that I could find, game trails only. Also found the furry guy hanging out on my wash basin.

I have no knowledge of the site but it is most fascinating. Thanks for posting. Don't give out the location as that would probably lead to destruction and theft.

It could be an old triangulation station.

You may want to contact the local BLM survey field office to see if the have any additional information.

Does anything show up on the quad map
