Anyone have a rebuilt Gen 3 HBB (Brake Booster)?

Ive been researching Gen 3s for months and have always told myself as soon as i bought one this would be the absolute first thing to do no matter the miles to have the piece of mind it wouldn't fail 8hrs away on a vacation driving on the beach with my family or god forbid the highway. Fast foreword and i might have found a smoking deal on one locally because it has already happened. And the current (1st owner) is not willing to pay the ridiculous price on a vehicle that's only worth $4k in the best condition anyway.

I am surprised that there isn't a cottage industry rewinding these or at least not easily found by searching. Even if i found a whole assembly used for the short term i would want a rebuilt one in there ASAP and before anyone in my family drives it.

I was hoping someone would have a good source for an old guy rewinding and building these in his shed before i potentially buy a vehicle i cant even test drive :)

I'm thinking hydraulic brake booster?

Just buy a 03+ as I'm pretty sure they fixed the issues by then.

funny you should mention that, the one im trying to talk to the guy about IS an 03 and its failed. Unless its the accumulator that failed in which case its even easier but i dont think he wouldve just thrown in the towel since thats WAY cheaper to have fixed.

I havent been able to speak with the seller verbally yet but the question would be the same no matter who i buy it from and what year it is.

Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining.
I replaced mine years ago.
It was a factory recall if I recall correctly.

this is the question. Has anyone doe it and where did they have it rebuilt. Im a previous life i worked in the HVAC industry and i cant say any of the motor rebuild shops that i used would touch this. As is life, people like to work on things that they can simply look in a book, find a part number, order said number and replace part. This would require a bit of work and parts catalogue searching to get done.

I replaced my accumulator under recall and two years later the whole assembly failed. I replaced my whole HBB assembly with an OEM replacement but most people aren't willing to make that kind of financial commitment on a used truck. I don't know of any other way around it, if you find one let me know

I have a good one (used) in my garage that one could possibly pry from me. I was holding onto it in case my '06's ever died, but with only 67K on the clock it will likely be years before I would need to address it.

Does anyone know if the motor is the same part number all the way through gen 3 production? If so, i might consider getting the motor before i even get the vehicle hunt started in earnest so i can have the luxury of time calling around and finding someone.

In the Philadelphia/NY area there always seems to be Gen 3s for part out.
