yep.......
Only stopped 4 years ago- I still have 6 kites in the garage.
excellent sport
Its a bit like riding an R6 race bike only the computer has been swapped with a horses head.
Think along the lines of
dam fast
unpredictable
powerful
wicked
hard
impacts
drowning
solid objects
anenamas
inside out out eye lids
...
Its a great sport pretty easy to learn if you have a back ground in windsurfing
sailing - wake boarding or power kites..
if not the learning curve is more dificult.
You NEED a course, it can be very dangerous.
14 sq meters of kite in its flying position gives you a % of lift
when its on its back full in the wind..its huge mainsail.
My biggest is 17 meters, thats a lot of kite
me being old and having a young child means I think safety as well as fun
hence my gear is sitting unused.
finding that perfect location for sailing alone is nigh on impossible
Going with a group and having someone in a safety boat is more my scene
as when it goes wrong it can be really bad.
Good places abound and are popular...I learn't and sailed in El yaque in Margarita venezuela....
since then I've not really met anyone else to go out with
an eye for the weather is also required as sudden wind change catches even the experts out.
Me , I loved it and would do it again in a group scene, even finding your board after jetising it at 20ft up often needs a friend to find it.
