The "Expedition" tent you are asking about is the same as rooftoptent.com This tent, Rooftoptent, Opensky all come out of the same factory in China.

We have had samples of each in our shop and have used them in the field. Although the price point is pleasing and they bear similarities to EeziAwn and Howling Moon tents in appearance, materials and construction are reflected in their price point. They are not bad tents for the price but for longevity, you'll have to pay more.

racktents.com is run by a guy named Todd, a fine fellow, Rover owner in Portland, OR and active over on Northwest Overland Society. He's a distributor for roof-top-tents.com. I don't think he posts here much but you're welcome to come over to NWOS or contact him directly. He's an easy going and enjoyable person to work with, from my experience.

I called him and chatted with him a couple days ago and he was real nice. I just want to make sure I dont screw myself with this...

I got my Adventure Trailer in 2003 so I have the SA version which came with the folding top tent. I appeared to work well for a while until the two sections kept getting out of level, which was right at my hip.... not a good nights sleep.

So I changed to a Maggiolina Airland (large) which is mounted on top of my trailer. I have had no issues with this tent and have camped in it from 4F (-15c) to full summer conditions with no issues or dreaded cold weather drip inside. I find that the bedding is better. The biggest issue is the overall length, if you are really tall you may find it a little short, I'm 6'2" and fit end to end in it. The existing trailer tent fell in a dumpster after sitting in the yard for a year ....

The biggest issue I find is any sort of change room. Climbing out in your underwear is not always a good thing. Some of the tent options allow an enclosed entry and change room, Maggiolina also have a version but I don't like it too much. This to me would be the selection point on the next tent option.

Get a look at what a few people have and select what you like. Remember you get what you pay for, so get a good quality unit.
