Anyone test the Hella Optilux 4" HID light?

As the title states, I'm looking for some feedback on this light (P/N H71020171). I'm still looking for some cheap 4" HID lights for the pushbumper on my car to replace my crappy Hella 500's. I was going to get some of the Custom Accessories 4" HID lights, but came across these. They're $108.67 @ Amazon, so they're almost the same price as the CA 4" HIDs. IMO they look a bit better too, I like the protective cover that the CA 4" lights don't seem to come with.

Thoughts? Opinions?

I was thinking about buying one of each and comparing the two, but that's an extra $109 I don't need to spend :D

Got a pair, they work great. good pattern for "euro' beams. nice clean white light. No yellowing of the lense cover after almost a year, on the over head light bar. The only "down" check is, that they are electronically noisey. they will bleed noise into am or other radios when on. No effect on Sat. reception.

hmm, thanks for pointing these out..

One might be perfect for a aux backup lamp on my trailer.

From previous reviews I've read on the Custom Accessories 4" HID lights, the light output was identical to the 6" model. Not sure if that helps you.

I'd just like to be able to put as small of a light as possible on my roof so it doesn't protrude above the roof, but I'd still like to get ample light, so it helps me alot, thanks!

I had (5) KC Daylighter 5" lights on the roof of my truck. Although they looked cool, I didn't see any difference when them on or off when the lights on my pushbumper were turned on (4 5" KC Daylighters). All the lights on my roof managed to do was get caught on branches and rape my garage door opener when I tried to park it in the bay for my car, haha. I've since removed them and I'm not planning on putting them back on.

hmm, thats interesting, how many lights did you have on your bumper, just two?

No, the (4) 5" Daylighters that I mentioned (truck in the avatar). Two of the daylighters are flood beam, and the daylighter flood beams are like SUPER FLOOD because with only them on you can't see 20' in front of you, but it has a 180* pattern that's amazing.

Here's my old setup:

My new setup is MUCH cooler :)

I just installed two sets of the CA HIDs, a pair of 4" and a pair of 7" The 7's seem to have a wider pattern while the 4's seem to be more of a spot.

I set the 7's to point closer in front of me and the 4's pointing straight out. They're also SUPER BRIGHT :D

The old lights (high beams)

And with the HIDs

Those two are the same exposure.
My biggest problem is that it appears my battery operated digital compass/thermometer has a short in it and when I power up the 7's, the memory gets reset. Not a problem with the lights though. Also they did come with plastic covers, I managed to scratch one of them while installing the lights but at least the glass isn't damaged.

Well, I broke down yesterday and bought a pair of the Optilux & a pair of the CA 4" HIDs. From the pictures I've seen the CA lights are great, but I haven't seen a single picture of the Hellas. I'm installing the CAs on my car, and the Hella's on my box truck. I'll try and get some beam comparison pics when I get 'em both.
