ARB Awning with Room: question

I've never seen an ARB awning with the floored room in person. I am considering adding one to my 3rd Gen 4Runner and use it to set up some cots. When you add the walls to the awning, how well do the sides secure to the awning? Is there a gap that rain and blow through? Do the sides zip to the awning? Can this be used as a tent and keep the rain/wind out or is it more of a wind block and not as weather proof as a tent?

Somewhere else I could get details and up close photos of how the awning and sides join to one another?

Thank you!

The floored room connects to the lower c channel under the awning on the truck side and then zips to the c channel on the front. The sides clip to both sets of aluminum poles. It has its own roof under the awning, two windows, a door, and a opening on the truck side. All openings seal up pretty good. Oh also has two upper vents on the truck side.

Wow how much of your storage does that room take up?

@gophere Thank you for the info, glad to know it's sealed and thank you for the picture. What size awning do you have? Is it big enough for a couple cots? Are you happy with the quality?

Thank you!

I have the arb 2000 awning. Just long enough for cots. I am really happy with it so far. Easy to set up/take down. Lots of stakes for securing it in weather. Bottom and side skirts are heavy duty pvc. The rest seems to be the same fabric as the awning itself.
I've used it maybe 10 time this winter and it's held up great so far.
It seems to be a lot of weight on the awning itself but has not been an issue yet and waters starting to not bead up as good as when it was new but that's the awning itself I will spray some waterproof on this spring.

I have a 3rd gen 4runner and I recently ordered this room for my awning... Will arrive on Monday... I'll set it up and take pictures then

I have been considering trying this setup as well. And was wondering if it will hold three cots. Like the idea of having the awning when you need it and a tent for camping.

I'm also looking at the CVT Black Butte. It attaches to an awning, but is also free standing when you don't want to break camp every time you move your vehicle.

As promised... Fits great.... Bunched up at the bottom as I'm on the driveway and it isn't staked down... It's the 2000x2100 version

Thank you @JeepinKyleWJ ! I really like how this functions and it seems to be a quick set up and take down. I emailed with Tepui about their Awning Extension, which attaches to the awning, but is also free stating if you want to close the awning and use the vehicle, without breaking camp. Bad news is that the Awning Extension is under redesign and it could be months before it is re-released. The CVT Awning Extension is about twice the price of the Tepui. The Tepui was closer to the ARB Awning room price, which was much more appealing, especially for as much as I get to camp.

Thanks for taking the time to take and post the photos. I'm leaning more and more toward this route.

Also, nice front bumper. I went with the same thing. Can I ask what winch you when with? Thanks again!

I had the tepui extension before I had this... Sent it back after a week.... It was a bit of a hassle and this was a lot quicker... This awning room Took me about five minutes from opening the bag to hooking it all up... My awning is an TJM but functions the same

There are two hooks on the inside of the room by the back wall that I cannot for the life of me figure out what it's use is for...It isn't for the door nor the windows nor the vents

The PVC floor is a bit thinner than I expected but I plan on putting a tarp underdeath just like you would do with a tent anyways.

I'm loving my CBI.... I have a rough country RS9500x winch with synthetic rope.... Have about 60 pulls on it so far and it's been perfect for my needs

And what do I get in my inbox this morning you ask???? A code for 20% off of any items over $99 from AutoAnything. Coincidence or they are tracking my searches, either way it has got me thinking hard. I can save $60 on the awning and $30 on the tent.
