Moving Chicane
Already Gone.
Greetings – I’m in the midst of installing a new ARB mesh roof rack on my current model Toyota 4Runner and have run into a couple of questions I would love to get answered before proceeding further.
I have currently 1) removed the stock roof rack, and 2) mounted the ARB roof brackets (Left, Right) per the “Fitting Procedure” booklet (AKA: install instructions) steps 1 thru 7. No issues. Have also added plenty of extra silicone sealer to prevent leaks in and around the stock mounting holes/tubes as known to be an issue on this vehicle. Pretty good job; a few scratches but nothing serious. The brackets “cant” a bit inward, but should straighten once the basket is mounted tightly.
So now that the brackets are on, and the basket is sitting atop the brackets, I have issues/questions.
Any pictures of mounting brackets or technique would be appreciated. I keep wondering why ARB doesn't have us mount the brackets to the basket first, then mount the entire assembly on the truck..........err.....
Thanks in advance – and thanks so much!

So now that the brackets are on, and the basket is sitting atop the brackets, I have issues/questions.
1. The mounting hardware for each bracket consists of:
a. A silver, oval two-hole plate
b. An “L”-shaped bracket with two holes and what appear to be nuts welded to the plates
c. 6mm screw/bolt
d. A flat washer
e. And a “spring washer”It appears the mounting order for these parts is (top to bottom/sky to roof)” screw/bolt, spring washer, flat washer, silver plate, actual roof rack basket, "L" bracket – IS THIS THE CORRECT ORDER OF PARTS ASSEMBLY?
2. It appears to me that the scew/bolt is just long enough to get through all the parts and tighten in the L-bracket at the bottom. Since my "rail" brackets are somewhat canted/leaning inwards, any reason I can't use a longer scew/bolt to work through all the pieces and pull it all tight? At least one per mounting point, then install the normal length and back out the long and replace it with a normal length?
3. And finally, the mesh of the ARB roof rack is pretty small/tight. And the brackets cover most of the access to the underside of the roof rack, especially the middle mounting points. So my question is: Has anyone figured a secret way to get the L-bracket underneath while assembling this in some sane manner?!?!?! Or are you using your fingers/hands through the mesh to align, hold, and tighten everything?
