Every Miles A Memory

It was one of the coolest nights yet here in Yellowstone for us, and we just kept saying things like "Why does forest fire have to be so beautiful!"
Here are some of my shots from this evening of what I think they're calling the Arnica Fire
Cindy shooting the Fire from Dunraven Pass this morning. It wasnt that big yet
On our way back home to Grant Village, the smoke was getting thicker and the flames were shooting higher!
It made for one of the most breathtaking sunsets I've ever seen over Lake Yellowstone
I look at this and think "Why Does Forest Fire have to be so Beautiful?"
I know this one is a crappy shot, but it was pitch black out and this was with my 400f/2.8 The smoke was blowing across the lake pretty bad, the because it was dark, you could see the flames shooting up pretty high in the forest
I'm hoping they get this contained pretty fast, because the forecast is nice weather with mild winds like we had today, and I'd hate to see another 1988 type of fire again.
I'm dying to see what Nathaniel's shots look like. He's another Portal Member who is staying with us right now in our Employee Campground, but he shoots 4x5 big stuff, he was out all night shooting like we were, so I'm looking forward to see what his work is like, although something tells me it'll be a few months before we see them.
I guess that's the differences between Digital, and old school film. I shoot images, he Makes Art
