I remember at SEMA Martyn was getting the canvas problem taken care of...

I have been really wanting to spread the word on this trailer in the disabled community as I think it will really help alot of folks..

But I don't want to build up excitement for something that isn't ready.

Maybe we will see it again at the Overland Expo in April?

Well it's always best to ask the manufacturer directly when you have questions like this. I don't always catch all the threads on the forum so questions may go unanswered.

We have sourced the material from Australia and have had samples of the material air-freighted over. The next step it to have a prototype made to see if we like the quality of the work. Once we like the finished product we will move toward production of the canvas.

The canvas has to be specially treated to meet California Fire Standards which means the purchase of a complete batch and then Ocean freight.

So that's the nuts and bolts side of it. Now throw that in to the mix of major projects that AT is doing right now, JK Topper, regular trailer builds, development of the vehicle interiors "Habitat" portion of the business, military contract, etc. and you can see we are running at full bore.

As you all know we are "slightly anal" with the quality of our products :sombrero: and we want to get everything 100% before it goes into production. Realistically looking at the hurdles we have to jump through to make the tent, plus a few technical matters we are not completely happy with, the earliest I think you will see this trailer is Summer 2010

Hey Martyn,
Thanks for the update, I have been meaning to email/call but busy and saw this thread.

Please keep us posted as I think there will be a nice market for this trailer and I am looking forward to spreading the word amoung folks with physical mobility challenges.

Too bad about the canvas issue as there was so much excitement at SEMA '08 and last years Overland Expo.

It's the reality of manufacturing, we prototype a lot of products with success and then come up against issues that make production problematic. Normally you don't hear about them because they end up as R&D one off's that we either sell or rob for parts.

This project was well on the way to the production phase when we hit the major snag with the canvas. Some of you have asked why we don't use a US make canvas, and the answer is that the canvas made in the US is either 100% cotton, or it is silicon impregnated, too bulky, or doesn't have the right blend of breathabilty & water resistance for our application.

3 factories in the world produce the type of fabric we are looking for, two in India and one in Australia. The Australian factory can produce the fabric up the the fire safety standard we have specified so our decision is to go with them.

We know that the Oasis will be a very successful trailer when it hits the market based on the number of people who have asked for information on it over the past 12 months. However we are not prepare to go into production until we are happy with every aspect of the trailer.

And there is the difference between a good company and a great company. :wings:

My dad wants the Oasis to come out so we would buy one and he can buy our Kamparoo.
