Just picked up this sweet mountain torpedo!! 2004 Express 1500 AWD with 150,000 miles on it. The van is in great shape with an outstanding vehicle history report. Light chassis rust due to age, body and drivetrain are in great shape with some hail damage. So overall I can't wait to build this van out for Camping/Mtn Biking/Kayaking/Snowboarding/Rock Climbing adventures with the wife. I have been following the main GM fullsize AWD Van Thread as boardrider continues to post new builds. So I thought I would add to the build list and hopefully learn some more along the way.
Our current plans include:
1) Frame in bed (completed)
2) Install Traxda Lift, ordered 2" rear blocks
3) Install a Whynter 45 qt. Fridge (Half way complete, need dual battery setup to finalize)
4) Install dual battery setup with Hellroaring BIC, still researching
5) New tires, planning on 265/75R16
6) Keep reading the forums and see what other out there are doing... Awning... Solar... its all good
The photo below was from 18 Road in Fruita! Nice spot to park a van, ride and drink some cold beverages!
I will post photos soon of framed in bed, still need to get a photo of the 4" memory foam mattress.
Cheers!
