Good afternoon. Looking for some help with the following little situation I'm trying to remedy. I have an XXL version of the James Baroud Evasion RTT and its got a solid overhang. Anyone else running into similar issue?
My setup is similar but not quite as much overhang as you. I also am running a Rhino Rack Pioneer rack, Foxwing and JB. I used the ARB/TJM foxwing awning brackets mounted to my Rhino Rack. Also a couple spacers between the brackets and the rack to set the proper height. These brackets may not be long enough for your overhang though. You could offset the tent on the rack maybe? Or make/find some long, strong L brackets.
The Rhino Rack is a very low profile rack on my 80 series so I didn't have a lot of up and down play. The top of the doors, when open, are about 1" below the bottom of the awning and the ladder tabs on the JB are the upper limits. My other constraints are that the awning needed to extend out from the rack about 4" to get out past the overhanging tent.
These ARB/TJM (Rhino Rack part #31103) mounts are 7" long and work perfect. With spacers and being able to flip flop the bracket, I got it set where it needed to be. I have 2 spacers on each bracket. Rhino Rack #PLHS2. They sell various spacers for side mounting. And drilled a couple extra holes so I could have 2 bolts on each mount into the rack crossbar to make it super stiff.
I see now Rhino Rack makes a longer bracket (9") for mounting an awning, that could work to get your awning out even further. It's the Tracklander Bracket Kit #31104. These brackets are plenty solid as the awning barely shakes and I frequently pull down on it when I climb up on the truck. Let me know if you have any more questions.
