Awning on Ladder Rack

I've got some cheap ladder racks that I'm planning to mount my ARB awning to.

Space between C-channel and brackets on the rack line up perfectly.

But this puts the awning very high up. I am tall so I can reach it fine, but I am worried about the space.

Awning really isn't useful if light and wet things come flying through.

Got about 6" of open space between the roof and awning where it attaches.

Anyone have a similar set-up? Does ******** actually come flying through or am I being a little b-tch?

I have my awning mounted to the feet of my roof rack. Is there a gap? Yes. Not a problem most of the time though.

I use H D aluminum contractor rack crossbars with the "antlers" trimmed and have dealt with the issue. We had 3" of rain one night requiring a sliced garbage bag and some zip ties to fill the gap. I keep a long slice of a tarp just for such an occasion now but rarely use it. The gap does keep the hot midday air under the tarp from going in the side doors though, don't sweat the issue a higher tarp is a cooler tarp. More clearance for door corners rubbing on the fabric is a good thing too......

I'm just gonna go ahead and mount it.

I got the racks for pretty cheap so if they don't work out its no biggie.

How did you manage to cover the opening with a tarp? How did you attach it?
