So, the family and I went to the Swell this weekend. I topped off the tank in Green River. Sunday afternoon I got a check engine light. I checked all the things I knew to look at and all seemed well. I figured it was just some sensor going bad. Monday we headed to Black Dragon Canyon not a hard trail but a few places that you need to be aware of. This is when Kifaru (my 99 LC) started acting up. It seemed that when ever I would come to a stop the truck would stall. It would fire right back up and idle well. It happened about 10 times before I got off the trail and onto I-70.
We made it to Green River and found a shop the could read the code on my "foreign vehicle". Code was a bad O2 sensor. The guys at the shop recommended changing the fuel filter as he thought that was the real cause. Surprisingly the local NAPA didn't have the fuel filter for one of then foreign jobbers.
Rather than getting one ship to Green River we decided to head for Grand Junction where I could get the part and change it myself. Fueled up and headed east. The truck ran fine , so we headed all the way back to Denver.
My question is ,after all that, could it have been just bad gas? I will go ahead and change the fuel filter and O2 sensors regardless.
