I didn't measure my roof rack mounts like FlyingWil instructed before ordering the Mule rack. The rack is a little smaller then my current rack and therefore we are enlisting the help of Hunter Offroad to help us mount it.
I am so excited. These things are MUCH cooler looking in person!!!

Sexy Rack for sure!

Wil, Wendy, do you know what diameter tubing is used on the Baja racks? The perimeter looks to be one size with the interior flooring a smaller size. I plan to get either the Baja Expedition rack or the ARB Touring rack and am just trying to compare the two. I know the ARB uses a combination of 1.4" and 1" tubing.

The BajaRack is made from 1 inch carbon steel tubing that fully encloses the perimeter and the smaller built-in ½ inch carbon steel tube grill floor.

Hope that helps. Both racks are great racks.

Thanks for the info Wil. One more question. Do you know the length of the flat section, without side rails, on the ARB Touring Rack? I assume it must in the the range of 55" or so to accommodate a 1.4M wide tent which would leave approximately 32" for the front section basket. Again I am just trying to compare with the Baja Expedition Rack which has a 58"-26" split.

I don't have any exact measurements of the ARB units. I talked to ARB today about them, and they are trying to hunt down the exact measurements for me. We're all doing everything shy from popping open a box! As soon as we get an answer, I'll let you know.

Got my Baja Rack light tabs and spare tire holder today from Sierra Expeditions (thanks!).

Noticed a warning label on the box of the spare tire holder that says "Not for offroad use". Thought that was an odd warning from a maker of offroad roof racks?

I'm going to use the Baja Rack on top of my m416 trailer crossbars and thought this would be a great way to carry a spare tire.

I know I replied to you via PM, but for other's interested in the same thing the flat section of the ARB rack measures 55" according to our ARB rep.

You guys are spot on. The flat area is going to be right around 55 inches, maybe slightly more. Our FJ Cruiser is off living it up somewhere other than our parking lot and the warehouse guys REALLY hate it when we go tearing through stuff likes it Christmas. If we find an exact measure, it will be up on here minutes later.
