Basic ground tent options, thinking of returning REI base camp 6

Ive been using a very basic 3 person Coleman dome tent from Walmart. It has far exceeded my expectations standing up to 40mph wind gust, sure the walls bent half way into the tent but the poles never broke, the rain fly stayed attached and no rips. I'd be perfectly ok with this tent if it weren't for two things. It's a bit too tight with 2 adults 1 kid and a 50lbs Australian cattle dog and the center height is less than 4ft.

I was considering the REI Basecamp 6 a few weeks ago and the gf surprised me by getting it for me today. Loved the idea and quality of it but one thing I don't like is so much mesh and weight/bulk. I want something smaller like the Coleman I have and something with a zipper flap for the mesh windows. The rain fly is fine and dandy but when it's windy out the draft and cold still comes in through all the mesh. I sleep cold so it's important the tent be as warm as possible yet also well ventilated for warmer nights. Unfortunately this simple thing is apparently hard to come by or atleast I couldn't find too many tents with window flaps...except another Coleman very similar to the one I have and this one is even easier to setup http://www.amazon.com/Coleman-2000012219-Instant-Dome-5/dp/B00AU6JXOS

So I'm thinking of returning the base camp 6 and getting one of these. But are there any other tents that I should consider...key requirements being a smaller/lighter package, ease of use, zip up window flaps, at least 5.xft center height and sleeps 4 :)

So no one has a tent with mesh windows that also come with zip-up flaps? Cabelas, Kelty, Eureka, ALPS etc?

Also have the Eureka Equinox 6. It has been a great family tent for more than 15 years. The only negatives: Not the easiest to set up solo. Possible, but MUCH easier with two. It is not a light, small package. I'm guessing 10" X 30" stowed and with my ground cloth and vestibule, it probably tops 20 lbs. But, lots of room. Standup height. Plenty of room for two adults, two kids, a dog and gear. And it will handle ANY wind and weather.

Thanks! I ended up with the Eureka Sunrise 5 - almost the same size, weight, etc as the BaseCamp 6 except it has zip up windows for warmth. Tried it out in Death Valley this weekend and it worked fantastic!

All I know is you won't see me supporting Rei no matter how good their products are. They support the Sierra club, who's only agenda is getting trails shut down to motorized access. I do my best to not support any company that supports sierra club.

I am from right next to La La land homr of rei.I will not have anything to do with them.

They are very active in shutting the woods down to everybody that that does not behave the way they think you should.

Way over priced.
