BAV questions

Long time lurker here, finally got my hands on a 4x4 van. We call it BAV (Big *** Van)

It's a 2005 with the 6.0 powerstroke, the 4x4 conversion is a Coil sprung Clydesdale conversion.

It's had the EGR deleted and has an SCT tuner on it, however, I am unable to adjust the speedometer using the tuner. Any thoughts on this?

Also, I feel like the shocks are worn out, what is the best replacement for all the weight on the front of these vans?

I'm also looking to respring the rear for a bit more comfort, while retaining towing ability. What direction do most folks go?

Thanks in advance!

As for shocks, it's pretty well fox shocks is what ujoint, agile off-road, and weldtec recommend. As for shocks specific to the Clydesdale conversion, I dunno. You'd have to figure your total length, stroke, etc, and call Chris, Ramsey, or Jeremy.

If you want to lighten the spring load around town, and still retain towing capacity, I don't know how you'd do that without air bags on top of a lighter leaf pack. Or, just throw up some ballast weight to get your springs to work better for ya.

Thanks!

In my research Fox is the name that keeps coming up, so I will look into that.

As far as tire size re-calibration, has anyone had any luck?

My shocks were custom valved by Agile Offroad and work amazing. I'm so happy with them I had them custom valve the Fox shocks for my Jeep as well.

You would need to compress the suspension and measure...and then droop the suspension and measure.

It's possible but risky. If they used the proper shock for the conversion you should be fine. But if not, there's a chance it's bottoming out the shock on droop and using it as a bumpstop on compression.
On a side note, you'll notice a huge difference between Ranchos and Fox...in my opinion (I had a Durango with Ranchos on it and I didn't like the ride).

Are there any guides on how to measure the required dimensions for ordering a shock?

I would just call John at Agile or Chris at Ujoint. These guy's brains are swollen with van chassis technical knowledge. :)

Agile sells a great helper spring for the rear too.

On your SCT issue, have you tried calling 5 Star tuning? They recalibrated my speedo for another Ford truck I had with bigger tires. I would think if you have an SCT tuner they can do about whatever you want. They sell a ton of those and can even email you tunes.
