Bedrug

Hey

Does anyone have any practical camping experience with Bedrug? I was priced one at $425 for a 6 1/2' Ford F150 installed. I love the idea, but that's a chunk of coinage. Are they good for camping? How well do they hold up? Any problems? Other alternatives? Thanks.

I have one in the back of my 05' f150 and love it. I could swear mine was only $300 but I don't recall exactly. I have slept on it while camping, have also used an air mattress with not much success(just don't enjoy air mattresses).

I got it before my trailer so we could just boondock or hit the state beaches any time out of the back of the truck. I also have hauled lumber, bikes, work gear, tools, and furniture. It still looks great. I do have it covered with a shell permanently and I do vacuum and clean as neccessary. But personally I think it has made a lot of difference for camping and I do like the clean look of the bedrug carpet matching the "carpet" lining of my shell.

I have the bedrug in my Tundra and its covered with a shell.
Very nice and durable. I have thrown firewood bricks etc onto it and it keeps asking for more. Never tried the line X but I am very happy with the bedrug

I love mine. I think it was 300 or 330 5 years ago. Shop around.

They are good for sleeping on and for insulation also once you start building up your backend for sleeping.

10 years of ownership...

I bought and installed this back in 2000...
Mind you... it has had a shell covering it all those years...

But the dang shell has leaked for the last 5.

these hold up really well... and even after getting wet a multitude of times...
Mold hasn't ever been of issue... and there's no sign of dry rot or anything other failure for that matter.

Sleeps real comfy... and it's easy on the knees

I paid $ 260. for mine back in '00

Prices have definitely gone up... :Wow1:

Hey

Thanks for the input, seems like it would make winter camping a bit more comfortable. I hate to spend that kind of money and not like it.

Love my BedRug. I seem to remember payong about 330 for the Tacoma, though. Appears that they've risen in price! :(

I've had mine for about 5 years. It's soft enough to sleep on, insulates from cold very well, and looks great. Oh, and it's durable as hell: no stains, no mildew... and I beat the crap out of it before I put in the sleep platform.

Every now and again I'll pull it out and power wash it, let it dry in the driveway, then it's good as new.

Highly recommended.

I'm quite happy with mine. Haven't had it in the cold yet, but it's held up great through a move and various home remodeling projects. I'm quite happy with the insulation on the floor and sides. Oh, and you can probably save some money by installing yourself. It wasn't hard at all.

because it hasn't been mentioned...

'bout the only hassle with my bed rug...
is that the material part that ties the bed to the tailgate tends to fall between the crack... well... the opening below and between the tailgate and the bed.

No biggie... but you will need to remember to pull that up and out...
before attempting to close the tailgate...

or it will get pinched and cause bind when trying to close the tailgate.

I thought on newer units... they sewed a hand loop in that area so that you can more easily pull that up when closing the tailgate...

But heck if I know... mine didn't have one...
and tho' I haven't after these near 10 years...
I intend on sewing a loop on there so it's easier to grab and pull up before closing the tail gate...

just sayin' :)

Have to agree with everybody else on the durability and convenience of the rug. I did replace and add some of the bits of velcro that keep it snug on the tailgate- after 9 years. Paid about 300 for mine. Great idea on the "crack handle", by the way. :) There's always bits of dirt and sand and pine needles in there...
