Im trying to either modify my existing airbox, or design a ground up solution for my Delica. I've already modified my stock airbox some to take more direct air from my snorkel. from a 2" hose with some restrictive unnecessary bends, to a much more direct 3" straight shot into the airbox. But half for fun i want to see if i can improve it even more still. I've attached a pic of the stock airbox and a pic of how i modified it (not mine exactly but we did the same thing)
I like the stock design in that it seems to be pretty safe, has a valve on the underside to let water drain, and as far as i can tell the fin's on the filter itself are to spin the air around the airbox so dirt/dust falls to the bottom. though im less concerned about those things now that i'm running a snorkel.
Are there airbox designs, or air filters that are known to be best for a good mix of performance gain while still being somewhat protected from the elements?
