We recently had an opportunity to review an OCENS BGAN system for satellite communications (voice and data) during a New Year's trip to Mexico with a group of friends, some of whom many of you will recognize as past members here: Chris Marzonie, Pasquale Benedetto, Chuck Hathcock . . . It was a fun trip, but somewhat overshadowed by events that proved the value of the BGAN concept, especially given recent advances in the technology. We were using a Hughes 9202 antenna, which is barely eight inches square, yet accesses the equatorial Inmarsat satellites almost instantly. The full report is on OT&T here.
