My company just got me a blackberry bold. What apps to you guys recommend for topo maps and road maps. Also looking for a geocaching app. Any other must have apps for the black berry? I have very little experience with dataphones.

I don't know about a topo app, but I use Google Maps all_the_time. It has everything- satellite, traffic, streetview and turn-by-turn directions, though not spoken, just in text. Free download, but you need data signal to use it, so not suitable for the Ponderosa.

I use TrekBuddy on my 8830. It is not for the faint of heart and requires for to prepare your own maps ahead of time for offline use (but I prefer it that way). Googleak works well for preparation.

I've been playing with Toposports for the past week or so. Its probably best to download your topo quads ahead of time along your route if your out of signal range, but you can search by name/landmark also and download them as long as you have a data connection. The maps do seem a bit grainier than the PDF's i've downloaded straight from the usgs though, but they are still readable for the most part. It will also do tracks, lists/shows POI's for a quad, waypoints and has a Distance and Bearing tool.

I've also used EveryTrail for tracks before, it worked pretty well for that purpose.

Other than that I use Google Maps a ton, I love to search for a place and see it on the map and then be able to call them up with just one more button press.

We use the cache n' go its free but i still use my garmin to enter the waypoints cause it just tells you the coordinates but not sure about the topo maps
