Bolam - Ophir

Sunday had to be a short day for us, as Amanda had to go into work that night. I still wanted to get a new trail in, so we headed south to Bolam Pass. Some photos from that trail...

After making it back to the highway, we headed back north over Lizard Head Pass to Ophir, and took the Ophir Pass trail to create a loop back to US 550 before heading home.

Some photos from Ophir Pass...

Nice pics - getting excited about leaving this Friday for Colorado.

We should be on that same trail this Sunday on the way over to Telluride. I was somewhat hoping there would be some snow at the higher altitudes...did you continue on to Alta Lakes afterwards?

Anything unusual to look out for at this time of year on the trail?

Thanks
Paul

That road through Ophir Pass looks a little scary. I would hate to try to pass a vehicle coming the other direction.

Yep, not too many places to pass on that section of the road. The only good thing about this part, is you can see the whole section of the narrow part of the trail to see if any other vehicles are already there.

There are a few narrow trails I have been on that you couldn't see that far ahead. I've had to backup some long distances on narrow shelf roads, and that's no fun.

Great trails and photos. I used to live in Co. for ten years back in the 80's. I really miss those Rocky Mtn. trails. I am going to had back next June and spent 3 to 4 weeks trails/camping.

Very cool. One of the first trails/roads I drove in the San Juans was Ophir Pass.

Needless to say, I was hooked.
