Bought a Bike

So it's been 25+ years since I've ridden and a few friends talked me into getting back into it. Slightly spur of the moment/found a good deal this weekend and jumped in. I was looking for a lightweight mountain bike for mostly cross country use. I want to eventually ride to work and back which will be a mix of dirt and asphalt but I can find a 95% dirt route fairly easily due to power line roads. Ultimately, I hope it inspires me to lose 50-70 pounds.

Based on the above my friends suggested a hard tail bike so I can have a better bike for the money than a full suspension model. The friendly Jenson guy seemed to agree with that assessment and we found a 2010 closeout that seemed to fit the bill and the budget. Now I'm gearing up and looking forward to bringing it on trips. I love the bike and it has really renewed my interest in biking. I don't know how much I'll be posting on here as I won't be using it for trips, but I will be taking it along depending on terrain. I figured I should at least introduce myself in this area of the forum.

The bike is a 2010 Focus Black Forest Expert. I got it for nearly half off the 2010 price and it seems to be exactly what I was looking for as far as features and use. Below is a link for anyone who wants the details. Anyone currently riding this model or one similar?

Nice Bike. Check out Ecovelo.info for tons of info about bike commuting and just great writing. Alan keeps a great blog going and his photos are top notch. Good luck with the weight loss. I commute by bike and every time I do I feel like I'm paying it forward for some of the carbon footprint that overlanding requires.
