box lid weatherstripping (how do I ???)

if I knew what search words to use, I would have! but then I might have gotten mired in a plethora of threads which would have taken me far afield from my original search. so ….

to build a raised top over a stationary bottom, in effect a box with a lid, how do "we" seal the space between boxes? drips & wind driven water in the down position, and run off water driven in at the raised position.

I know this has been addressed, but don't know where to start the lessons. any help appreciated. thanks

Is it metal, wood, plastic? There are so many variables that your description of the 'box' is very vague. Pictures are a must with this type of question.

I haven't built it yet. but it will be wood with other materials used as required. I can foresee some 1/8" aluminum strip for areas which might require reinforcement.

if this box lid was lifted 80%, how could water be kept out ? if it's left closed, how could water be kept out at 60 mph?

Alaskan Camper ?
Or is that too musical ??

it does have a nice ring to it. i'll see if i can find a cross section which shows the overlap & method of sealing.

btw: sometimes i have no idea what you're trying to communicate. i not as so smart - you might think.
