Brand New OEM heater core but no heat! - Gen 2.5 Montero

Hi all, installed a brand new Mitsubishi heater core to replace the old leaking one. Topped off the coolant overflow tank, took off the bleeder valve and let the car run for 20 minutes but there's still no heat. I touched the inlet and the outlet pipes of the heater core in the cabin (still haven't put the dash back) and they felt cold as if no coolant is flowing through them.

I'm suspecting there is air in the system? But i did take off the bleeder screw located uptop around engine oil filler cap the whole time. Any help and pointers greatly appreciated.

PS: I know my thermostat is good, because i still did have heat with the old leaky heater core.

I usually take out the thermostat to circulate the coolant for awhile then put it back in, especially when your thermostat will not open when idling in this cooler weather and not allow any coolant to reach the heater core, try that and report back.

Looking for that thing i just had in my hand...
I'd suspect the heater valve itself not being connected properly, If it's shut you will have no flow.

Thank you all, I was able to burp the system. Got the car to operating temp and then revved it to 3k for about 4 sec, this did the trick.

This was my first time doing heater core on any vehicle, it was pretty straight forward. But need to take off a lot of stuff, I have read somewhere that people had to take out their HVAC systems..... which means recharge A/C. But I didn't have to take the a/c system out.

Take the dash off and whole of center consoles skeleton, then you can wiggle out the whole black box(heater core box), do not take out the white boxes to the right of it.

Just be patient when pulling out, because it's tight in there and you don't want to break anything.

Feel free to ask questions..... my memory is still fresh and would love to help out if you'll get stuck.

I expect it to be less challenging than doing valve stem seals while the engine is still in the truck. But i wanted to hear from someone that had just gone through it. Thanks dude!

So I'm taking it that you bought the new part number heater core that is suppose to need a new heater box? And it sounds like it fit right in the old box.

I have to change mine soon and have been holding off trying to figure out if that new part was a straight drop in.
