Adventurer
Hello everyone,
This is my second build on the forum, it has been sometime since I have actively posted minus just saying nice work to many posts. So to give you some background on our history of campers and trailers.
1. First trailer was the one I built and posted on the forum. Adventure trailer with RTT (this is the first picture with our 3rd 4runner that we moved on from) Had some great times exploring all over the midwest but mostly in the UP of Michigan. We loved that we could go off road and to some amazing out of the way places. But we wanted more space.
2. Second trailer was a Trillium Trailer that we purchased and did a lot of work to refurbish and get where we wanted it. We've been to Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, to Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine and everywhere in between. We loved it but did not work so good off-road so we sold it and did quite well. This second picture is the Trillium.
3. So we got a good deal on a pristine Skamper 080S pop top camper, put a bunch of work into it went on a trip. We liked it, but don't like that every time we wanted to go somewhere we had to pack up since the truck was attached (haha) and no we don't have the fancy electric jacks that make it easy. Those cost more than the trailer and the work we put into it. We have it on an F350 Super Duty which does a good job and doesn't notice the camper but off road and any kind of articulation and the camper takes a beating. WE MAY SELL THE TRUCK AND CAMPER AS A PAIR IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED $10,000
*So we have decided that we need to get back to a trailer but one that can go off-road, and handle the rigors of two tracks. One we can sleep comfortably, stand up in, and get way out there in the boonies. So the last picture is the design I have been working with on Sketchup.
Design:
1. 6'x10' box 5' tall with pop top 2' in the front.
2. Timbren Axle-less suspension #3500 with hubs
3. Dining with table that converts to bed (bed area 72"x80" i'm a 6' 290lb big guy)
4. Sink inside for cleaning up and brushing teeth.
5. Storage under one bed and two different cabinets in the trailer
6. Slide out under one bed where stove, sink, 12v fridge
7. Fox-wing awning
8. Tires will match a new pull vehicle once we get it likely a Toyota Tacoma
