Cab to box access and other newbie questions

Please pardon the coming flood of newbie posts. I'm just starting down the design path. I've watched enough YouTube and read enough blogs to excite me. Now it's on to figuring out want vs need. Btw I'm coming out of the power boat and Class A RV world of experience.

So, first question: How often do you use the cab to box crawl access? Seems a good waste of space vs just getting out and walking around like you'd have to do in an trailer setup. Everyone does it so one could assume it's needed. But really how often is it used?

Wet stuff - I mean muddy/sandy/dirty shoes/boots and rain jackets/pants. Why is it that every boat/RV manufacture in the world seems to forget we go outdoors? I live in the PNW and so I have a collection of GoreTex and I'm not afraid of being outside when wet stuff falls. But I don't want to track all that into my nice pretty house. Where you do store yours? Seems I'd want a vented boot cubby or something and a vented closet near/at the door.

The current idea is mostly north america but also iceland, australia and probably northern Europe. My spanish sucks, french at high school and german enough to order food. So for now South America/Africa is TBD. I'd for sure build for any kind of external power charging (IE Victron 90-380).

Length and weight restrictions. I have a Jeep which I can fit almost anywhere. I get that a 30-35' 6x6 isn't the same but is there a magic cut off that "over 30' you're screwed" or like that? IE I can put our 35' Class A into 18' campsites but I'm thinking logging road bridge weight limits or such. Am I risking too much by going over x feet?

Ok enough questions for now. Bring on the thoughts and opinions please!

we love the cab 2 box accesses. but, we are only two with no kids and we have a single cab truck so its real easy. there is an insulated, lockable door on ours which is huge as the cab of the truck has zero insulation and can get very hot/cold. we like that in adverse weather you never have to set foot out side. need a sandwich/drink ? no trouble just crawl back. i can see life without it would be no trouble but ours has one and we use it alot.
