Cable Routing: Sirius and GPS antenna cables together

Spamicus Eliminatus
Hi,

Does anyone know if there could be a potential signal loss or performance degradation if a Sirius radio antenna cable and GPS antenna cable are paired beside each other for about 10 feet?

I plan on mounting them in a creative location (more on that later) within about 6 inches of each other.

I ran my xm radio and gps external antenna wires together for about 4 feet without any problems

Probably no problems. However if you wanted to, you could twist the wires around each other for the run except for the separation you need outside the vehicle. In CAT5 cable, the pairs are twisted to eliminate 'cross talk'. The twisting causes the signals to cancel each other from interfering.....

Just an idea.

I have the cabling for GPS and XM antenne run next to each other in both my trucks. They are secured together all the way from the head unit up to the roof of my rigs (10 feet or so).

The antenne are right next to each other on both rigs as well. Have not noticed any problems, the setup in my DD has been in place for two years now.

I would be carefull about twisting the wires together as I have found the mini coax of the antenna cable to be a bit fragile, you can break the center conductor of the cable by twisting it too much.
