Camper awning, how much over door clearance do I need?

As you can see in the picture I don't have much room above the door. Any thoughts on models that will work? I really want some type of awning for hot and sunny and cool and rainy days.

I did a carefree freedom one, they wanted 11" to the bottom of the bracket, IIRC I had 8" and it could go lower, I clear the door by an inch or two. I can measure tonight if thats the style your looking at. But you may not have enough room.

A roof mount would probably be a better bet. Carefree and Fiamma make them (maybe Dometic 9110 also?)

This doesn't answer your question but it may help.

I have seen some camper doors with a small wheel mounted on the upper outside corner on the latch side so when the door was opened the wheel wouuld roll on the underside of the awning and "lift" it so the corner of the door didn't cut it.

The used door I put in has that little wheel on the corner already. My thought was more the whole roll part. How far above the door does it have to be? I think like Java said maybe one of those roof top mount ones? Just have to give it some thought and also plan out how wide my aluminum roof top carrier will be.
