Campervan "add-a-rooms"?

I'm wondering if anyone here owns a "add-a-room" type shelter that they use with their van and can comment on their experience? I'm looking to add standup and storage space when state park camping with the family. I have a 6-man mountain tent as well but I can only stand upright in the middle of the tent. So I'm trying to decide on just using the 6-man for added space or move toward something that mates to the van that has more overall headroom and expands the vehicle based living space for stuff and sleeping.

I briefly considered roof top tents (RTT) that create an added room underneath the platform that folds out but I think a RTT creates more problems than it solves for me.

Then I started looking at "add-a-room" solutions like this (one of the better ones I've found; not sure how it will work with a fullsive van): http://www.busdepot.com/details/addaroom/. Many other add-a-rooms rely on an awning that is fixed to the vehicle for the roof and upper support. I want to be able to drive away from camp so the add-a-room needs to be a freestanding structure.

If anyone has experiences they can share (good or bad) and pics, I would appreciate it! Thanks!

We just got one of these for a trip we took south, worked great, love the extra room for standing up. and you can drive away.

Looks good.
Eventually I will be adding a foxwing awning and with the sides it will be like an add-a-room.

Rear room

We went Cross Country at the end of 2015 and the rear add a room from Bus Depot arrived half way through our trip. It was on b/o for seriously like 3 months so I was really excited to get it. It was very lightweight and would provide more privacy for changing or showers off the back of the EuroVan. We liked it a lot. It was not ideal for heavy wind days became there were no support poles, so it just connected off the tailgate when raised. I think it was like $90 or something but we felt it was $ well spent.

Also we went to a VW van outing and lot of people sort of made their own side rooms. They simply connected tarps/marine materials/ or even blankets around the base of their side awning poles and it seemed to work really well w/o having too much bulk to pack up.
