Camping Labs RTT vs. Eezi Awn etc

Hey Guys,

Getting ready to purchase my first RTT for a 5,000 mile, 70 day expedition and have found a few different options for purchasing a used tent.

Do any of you have experience with the Camping Labs tents? Are they just another Chinese knock off with better marketing than the others, or are they higher quality and on the same level as the Eezi Awn only with less time on the market to prove their place....?

Any info would be very helpful. Also if any of you know of a tent for sale- let me know! Its going atop my freshly rebuilt 78 FJ40.

Cheers.

I had a camping lab rtt on my last truck and loved it, no problems in the wind or rain. The mattress pad is thicker then the eezi awn but eezi awn is definetly better quality overall. Also the eezi awn has darker material then the camping lab so it blocks more light.
Camping lab, arb, car top tent all appear to be the same tent.

Not true, the there are many differences between the ARB and the other two, I can't speak of the differences between the CL and CTT/Mombasa but I can assure you the ARB has some very stark and imo important differences.

I know you mentioned looking to buy a used one, which is good, cuz the CampingLab's won't be available new until later this summer.

If you want to get the CL I would say just call up Fernado, and get your name on a list. I am sure that they will go fast as he has been out of stock for some time now. I have never been inside an RTT, but having read what a lot of people are saying about them... I have not heard a bad reveiw of the CL tent, and I have only heard of one or two people who did not like the EZ.

When you do get one, please let us know what you picked, why, and how you like it!

Thanks

I've had a Camping Lab RTT for over a year now. I'm an archaeologist and regularly use the tent in the field. Believe me, I was hesitant to trust these because the price was so reasonable, but it hasn't let me down at all. Very sturdy. I've had it set up in high winds, rain, and snow. No problems. Very, very well built. I am SOOOO glad I got it. I'm not saying the more expensive tents aren't just as good. They might be. But the CL one has done right by me.
