Can you install an 08+ front clip on a 92-07??

In my search for a CHEAP van, found a mechanically good 96--except they hit a deer. It is driveable, but everything up front is wrinkled or duct-taped together.

I do know I need 08+ passenger seats (I need the shoulder harnesses), so why not make the outside look new, too?

I thought the doorskins are the same so it is just the front clip that changed. Or am I mistaken??

Yes you can there are a few people on the forum that have done it maybe they will speak up. It is hard finding those parts in the junkyard though. You can also swap out the dash if your so inclined.

Yes, there are several people that have done it. As far as the dash goes, it changed in 09. My 2008 has "Ford R&D 92" stamps all over the place so I'm thinking that from the A pillar back it's the same van.

Those shoulder belts are nice too. The seat mounts are different on those kind of seats but I'm not sure that the bolt pattern is different. If somebody want to go and measure the bolt paterns for the older seats, I'll go and measure mine. Maybe you could just buy an older van and bolt in newer seats.

Discount Van has those newer seats for sale as take outs.

Or just find Sprinter seats!

Thanks. Seat brackets are different, not sure if the holes line up. I figure I will need new carpet as well. Wife wants carpet. I want to install soundproofing, so no big

Seat differences

There is a quigley Ford on ebay right now that has the later style 08+ seats in it. I emailed the seller and he said the brackets just bolted in.

This is great news for me because I am now looking for a standard length, 7.3 diesel, passenger van. I will swap for the later seats after the fact.

This van is the only one I've seen with it done, but it makes sense they wouldn't change bolt spacing in a major piece like the floor if they didn't absolutely have to.

I actually like the earlier nose better ( to stay on topic, sort of ) :ylsmoke: and would like to swap to sealed beam headlights (well, cibies) when I finally find the right van.

When i was doing a search for parts on my van, i had a 96. There where some differences.
97 & up have a different hood. It looks the same to me, but maybe the hood latch part is different. But when i was looking for a fiberglass hood with scoops to keep air flowing thru the engine bay they where 97& up. So the 96& below might be a hassle for the 08 front end swap, but im not sure.
96 & below have a different doghouse/engine cover. In 97 the floor changed to the current style. So finding a doghouse with extra storage was hard for me. Might have change bolt pattern for seats aswell.
With the floor style change comes floormats. The heavy duty weathertech style rubber floormats are not made for 96 & below.
The dash is also different 96 & below. So are door panels. I know my 96 panels differ from customers 94.
Abs pump location is on the frame on my 96 but the 97 & up are under the hood. Not in the way of a ujoint kit but just something else i noticed.

Those are the differences i know of from my research.

I put 94 door panels on my 2000 along with the electric locks and power windows it has been a while but from what I remember it was a direct replacement.

I believe the difference was the window switch and design. But im sure the doors are the same so it will fit. I have quirks about the lil things. Ie, when i replace belts on a car i like to read them while facing the engine, and i didnt like the switches on the my customers 94 van. But thats just me. And it was a sportsmobile, but doubt that matters.

Or i could be completly wrong. Its been awhile since the customer brought the van in.

The 08+ seats allow me to remove one more row and keep legal with all my kids in booster seats.

The wife likes the looks of the new fronts, I think she would like the old version fine if she saw it in not white.

She wants carpet, I look at the mud in our existing van and think I need vinyl with carpeted mats.

The 96 had a little more than cosmetic issues, so I will try to find 97 or newer in my search.

Thanks to all.
