Canon G9 - ordered!!! What SD card????

I really wanted to buy locally, but our last small camera shop closed a few years ago. So, I shopped around online and ordered a new G9 for a whopping $315 with free shipping!!!!!!!!!!

My question:

Tell me about SD cards. I'm thinking I need a 2GB card to go with this unit. What should I be looking for. 2GB cards span a broad range of price from $30 to $300.

Any recommendations?

I am el-cheapo and I buy the 2gb cards that are usually about $40 at Costco.

I lose them/misplace them so much that I can't afford to buy larger ones. They are SanDisk. Zero problems.

EDIT:

They're $37.00

I really hope you actually get this camera, that store has a dismal performance record. I try to stick with quality stores like B&H, etc. Let us know if they pull the bait and switch on you. Good luck.

Oh boy. I've made a zillion e-purchases over the years. I guess I got sloppy and should have done more research.

Good thing I work at a bank and can hit the fraud button better than most. :)

So....I'm no longer expecting a G9. I cancelled my order and refused the charge to my card. I'm now shopping again. I gues I'll run over to Best Buy. :(

Go here:

Tell them the best price you are getting somewhere else and tell them I sent you.

Best camera store in Utah.

Stick with your G9 decision regardless (or even irregardless) of where you buy it. ;)

Why did you cancel your order? The G9 is a great camera!

I got mine from B&H. Their price + shipping + extended warranty (a good thing IMO due to the terrible conditions my G9 will have to live in) was less than the G9 + tax at Best Buy.

I use 4 gig cards....get the fastest card you can if you are going to be taking back to back shots. This camera has no buffer to speak of....once you take a shot, you are dead in the water until the info has been written to the card....slow cards can take 4 or 5 seconds per image.

I agree with Michael - Costco! But not Costco at the store, Costco online. They have more selection and some of the best prices.

TigerDirect is also good for the lesser known brands like Sorny, Kanoon and RCHay. :)
