Canon S5is vs Canon G9

I'm looking to replace my older SLR with a new advanced point and shoot. I've read a lot of the posts here on the Canon G9 and it is definely on the short list. I've also looked at the S5 and was wondering if anyone had thoughts on this camera. Good, Bad and Ugly. Thanks in advance.

Biggest drawback - It does not capture in RAW format.

Good points - It feels good in the hand. It has a nice lens. They added the HotShoe for external flash.

Thanks for the response Brian, the link proved to be very good information. I am also reading Chris's thread on Raw image format and that too has been very educational. Thanks again.
