Carry on trailer soft springs

I think in the long run you'd be better off with a set of longer leaf springs with a shackle in the back. But for $58.00 I think this would be a good interim upgrade and would improve the trailer's ride with no fabrication needed. It is nice they have the flexibility to swap out the bottom spring to smooth the ride even more depending on how much you load up the trailer.

Of course you'll still need the stronger and wider axle to run the 31/33" tires on 15" rims. In the meantime, a 175/80/13" tire and rim combo (a common trailer tire & rim combo) may clear the frame with your current axle. Picture below (from Walmart actually) shows such 13" tire & rim beside a 12" tire & rim. They're not expensive, and I always thought this size tire would be the smallest lil' trailer sized tire that should be run off-pavement.

How difficult is it to put the axle under the springs? That should give you the clearance under the fenders to run these 13" tires, and allow you to run less of a drop hitch.

Good call on the width
I’ll probably just grab a wider 3500lb axel and do it right the first time
