Cases/straps

Hi All, would like some suggestions on convenient methods of carrying my Pani LX5 when out on the trail hiking, skiing, etc.

I have seen the leather case/neck straps but have never used such a creature.

Are there some cases that are better than others (well constructed, better protection, access to all controls and screen)?

I would really like something that allows quick access and decent protection…

Thanx for the feedback.

Bill

I dont think there is such a thing as a CASE that keeps the camera in quick access?

I'd look at the Cotton Carrier as previously mentioned. Works great as long as you're not hiking in really hot, humid weather. Also check out the Black Rapid Straps.

I recently went to one and love the way it keeps the camera right at my side, yet slides up so easy.

We have the Cotton Carrier and I cant think of anything that keeps the camera secure, yet easily deploy-able within a few seconds

The one I posted is easily deployed in a few seconds, even in winter wearing gloves.

ssssnake529, please tell me how that one you linked to gives you better protection and access to all controls and screen? It's a soft sided pouch?

If you want access, anything that has to be opened isn't going to work.

There has to be a trade off between protection and access

If you have opposable thumbs, it's easy. Yank a couple of snaps, and you're done. The case has a keeper strap on it too that keeps it from getting dropped.

It might be too hard for you, but I seem to manage ok. I can have the case off and the camera out and taking pictures in just a few seconds.

Also, the one I linked is light, cheap, and allows you to put your camera in your pocket.

Gariz makes some amazing custom leather cases that might fit with what you're looking for. I know there's one for the LX5 too. I think there are a number of resellers on ebay.
