Changing COG with Spare Tire Carrier on Montero Sport

I managed to score a complete MS spare tire carrier with a color matched bumper no less. The only part missing is the internal backing plate (use really big washers instead?). I know it will look cool, but most importantly I can use a Trasheroo, put a ladder for the roof tent on it, have someplace to mount jerry cans or Rotopax, maybe even a flip out table! My concern is that moving the spare from under the car to chest height will increase the chance of rollover, especially with the Autohome roof tent on there. I have OME springs on it, a lot stiffer than stock, so they might help some even though it is lifted a couple of inches. What do y'all think? I imagine 9 out 10 vehicles owned by people on this forum will roll quite easily. The NHSI rollover ratings for the JK and Tacoma were pretty bad to start with!

I would not be concerned with rolling over, if you do feel concerned you can increase the track width a bit. Regards to your spare going on the tire carrier, Mitsu designed it like that from the factory so you would be safe, what are the dimensions of the tent?

It's an Airtop, so it's the same length as the roof. Do wheel spacers really make much of a difference in stability?

Any suggestions for lower offset wheels? Anything more than 2" will put me too far past the fenders. Thanks

6x139.7 with a 108.1 center bore and 4.5" backspacing. Is that different than full size Montero's?
Nope, not different from the Gen2s. You can look into some yota wheel companies but you will have to bore out the center. Check out ROTA wheels or Level 8 wheels.
