Cheap LED light solution

I grabbed a couple of these kits at Ikea the other day. 12 volt and 3 strips with connectors (and transformer if you want it) for $15. They should be a good replacement for Fluro tubes.

Not that easy.

The transformer converts household AC power to 12vAC

You need LEDs that are designed for 12vDC, unless you are planning on running an inverter just to power the lights.

Actually it is super easy...throw the transformer in the trash and hook the wires from the lights straight to a 12v source.......

Ok did some testing. They work fine on DC 12v but they are a bit low on output. I will be putting 2 in each Fluro fitting as an alternative light with a 3 way switch. On, Fluro or LED.
