We bailed on all responsibilities and headed south to escape the worst December weather on record in Portland. It kind of worked. We had rain, wind, freezing temps and a little sun. It was fun.

The best accessory was the espar D2. It kept us comfy even last night (barely) with an outside temp of 16° in the Mohave desert. Most useless accessory was the kayaks. Didn't use them once.

Van performed excellently and we even wheeled it pretty hard a few times. The extra weight in back helped a lot, not to mention thes dry climate surfaces of gritty rock, sometimes frozen.

Upgrades needed next: roof insulation, and stereo upgrades.

The wind was so intense at times it prevented us from sleeping. Felt like an angry mob was trying to flip the van.
