Chrysler Town and Country

Can anyone tell me if an RTT will work with the Town & Country (2011)? I cannot find max roof load numbers for it anywhere. Yakima does not recommend their units for the vehicle which concerns me that it is not an option.

For background, I'm trying to increase the sleeping capacity while I'm on the road with my motorhome. I tow the Town & Country, saw RTTs and thought that would be an easy solution.

I have the answer after contacting Yakima. The factory roof rack on the Town and Country is rated at 150 lbs, the Yakima tent weighs 165. and they do not make a rack for the car. I went to RackNRoad and got a Thule rated for 200 lbs installed.

Thanks for your reply. I checked the Yakima website and the tent is listed at 95 lbs as you said. The 165 number I mentioned came from Yakima. Their response to my inquiry is quoted below. Conflicting information from the manufacturer :ugh:.

"We cannot recommend that the SkyRise Tent be used on your vehicle because the weight limit is under 165 lbs. The weight limit for your 2011 Chrysler Town and Country is 150 lbs.

There are quite a few vehicles with factory crossbars that do not meet our recommendation for the tent going on the factory crossbars. And unfortunately, we do not have a Yakima rack system to Chrysler rack application to allow the SkyRise Tent to be applied either."
