Coming Thursday…the ReNewed Ram TRX 1500

Ram has announced that, like the mythical Phoenix, it’s bringing the fabled TRX pickup back from the ashes for the 2026 model year.

Set to debut on January 1, this good looking half-ton truck boasting impressive off-road cred will be back on the production line, assembled at their Sterling Heights Assembly Plant.

With a gas a6.2-liter V-8 putting out more than 700 horsepower shoehorned under the hood, this second attempt of the 1500 TRX may be available with a turbocharged engine. I know this post is short on details but saying anything more would just be speculation.

We’ll find out about this enticing rig, with lots more of the specific details of this build on Thursday… hopefully.

The TRX is the best dumb vehicle I’ve ever owned. I’m just shy of 50,000 miles in my 2021 and other than fuel economy it does everything well. It tows the family pontoon boat, takes me to the woods during hunting season, is comfortable on long road trips, and can rip off a 0-60mph time in 4 seconds consistently. Buying my 2021 when I did was the best valued TRX you could get (my TRX is actually the only truck built for 2021 - 2024 with the options I have). In 2024 my truck was around $30,000 more and all it would have got me was an all digital display and LED lights in the tailgate handle.

Ram is going to have to do a lot to get current owners like me to make a change. That said, I’m still excited to see what they come out with.

The 2021 Reveal Video was epic!

The problem with these reveal videos Ram is teasing is I can’t make out a supercharger sound. Some of the other forums suggest a 392 Dakota or possibly a Power Wagon with the Cummins Diesel.
