I searched and did not find any thing so here it is.

I recently found a website distributing FREE garmin topos for Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, and more to come. They have a Mac and Pc version!! They feature 40 foot contour lines!, Updated hydro data, Roads in topo that actually match the real world, Etc...

Here is the website:

Just an update. I was able to load it onto my PC with Map Source and then onto my etrex Legend. Its black and white on the etrex, but at least it has TOPO now. Has really good detail and works seamlessly with Garmin Map Source.

Thank you so much for the info! I am downloading Colorado Wyoming and Montana right now! Can't wait to see how it works with BOBCAT on the Mac!

I downloaded the Wyoming map, and used the new Garmin Mac software to load the map. Works well in Bobcat but it wiped out City Navigator and Topo on the GPS. Not sure if I did something wrong, or the software.... 60CSX

I do not have the native Mac maps, but used a PC to load them.

Make sure you still have the maps on the GPS. You can switch between map sets with most GPS's so you might just look to see if you can re-select the City Nav etc.

The Colorado maps are pretty cool - but there are numerous errors I have found in the short time I have spent with the software.

I have loaded all topos along with N. A. Navigator (2008) with no problem...just load all maps into Mapsource (latest version) first and then select maps in each data set. You will see them on the left with a running total of MBs used. The when ready send to GS. This will overwrite all dat on GPS but you will not loose stored locations, favourites, etc. Worked first time out of the box for me on my C320 and I can select or unselect each data set as I need it. I do have 1GB card though. Also waiting to get/see more topo data for AZ, NM, NV, CA as well as Mexico (Copper Canyon and more). Super stuff, ya there are a few errors but hey it's free what do ya expect. I sent the guy a donation for his efforts. Hope this helps!

Mapsource is PC only. I'm running a Mac with "beta" Garmin software I took a look inside the card today, the maps are not gone, but you can no longer select them in the "turn on/off section" of the 60csx. I just replace the whole thing with a back up image I took a few weeks ago. Anyone know if the 60csx can take a 2gb card? I know it should but I've had other things ( cameras ) not like the larger cards over some magic limit.

Found a nice file format online converter: http://www.gpsies.com/upload.do?uploadMode=convert

Nice to convert kmz google earth to garmin.

Very cool find. I just pushed all of Colorado (178mb) to my Etrex Vista HCx Micro-SD. More detail than anything from MapSource. I had to set my GPS to "less detail" because there is so much detail! Thanks.
