Excelsior!
The first leg of our adventure was whitewater rafting on the famous Rio Pacuare's "lower" section.
The complete write up is at my blog.

I am having trouble bringing the text over here to post as it gives me a "server error" message. (?)
For the moment I am sharing some photos and brief comments.
Short action video
Typical stretch of river with steep jungle on both sides
I loved the hanging bridges!
Every time I crossed one I felt like I was in an action hero movie :clapping:
Our clothing and gear were hauled downriver like this
Our safety net was this guide in a kayak who would help out anyone who might fall out of a raft.
However during our trip no one was accidentally tossed out.
We hiked to some great waterfalls and swam in the refreshing pools at their base.
The mighty leaf cutter ants were everywhere and it was cool to watch them ply their craft
The knife that I carried is the ESEE Izula which I wrapped in paracord.
My friends from Miami told a story about their Costa Rican Grandfather. He was a construction worker
on the railroad in the early 1900s and lost his life while building this bridge. It was part of a narrow
gauge route that connected San Jose to Limon.
