Couple Hikes PCT - Walk2650.com

We ran into this couple while out exploring.. and i wanted to share their blogsite. They're currently in SoCal and hiking the Pacific Crest Trail. They started a few months back at the start of the trail near Mexico and they still have a long ways to go to Canada.. Their site is fun to watch and they update via cellphone text and pics. They're also using SPOT so you can track them. Pretty amazing.

As I understand it, about 350 people left the Southern Terminus this year, most of those will be thruhikers. We are section hiking about 1100 miles this spring/summer/fall, going out for days to weeks at a time as work allows. So far we have 240 miles completed and are looking to get that up to 420 before the end of June.

Yeah, we want to thruhike it too. The tentative plan is to do so in 2011, until then we will just get in as much hiking as work allows.

Bring it on! Our group will have the luxury of a support vehicle so we can keep tabs on our business while we are doing this.

We are thinking of leaving the border on March 31 to (hopefully) get cooler temperatures through the desert sections. So we'll almost certainly be dealing with some serious ice/snow through the San Jacintos. Ice axe / crampon skills and possibly snow shoe skills will be required!

Once across the Mojave and at Kennedy Meadows, we'll decide when is the best time to enter the Sierras.
