I have looked at these in detail, IMO that would be a mistake for an off road capable unit.

IMHO it's more solid and cheaper to fab in something like Geotracker90 did on The Gillz Expo Off-Road Trailer. A slide in-out adjustable.

Yeah, it doesn't really seem like a good idea to me, for an off-road trailer. Actually, I don't like them on any trailer, though I'm sure they're fine.

The telescoping tongue really isn't much harder to make than a standard tongue.
