A Fuso dealer mechanic from California posted on the Canter 4x4 Facebook page that he worked on a dual cab Earthcruiser which had an L6 v8 gasoline engine replaced due to oil pump failure. I was unaware that dual cab FG’s were available in the USA. Did Fuso start selling them in the last few years?

Funny you should mention it. The 6.0 LS Vortec has a very well know oil pump problem and I recommend everybody who has one replace it with the newer model. The pressure plunger has burs, siezes in its bore and fails to open starving the engine. Ask me how I know. Just finished dropping a L96 long block into my 3500hd. I have come to terms with the the platforms weakness. Noisy, piston slap. But can't say I'm more excited to pick up my 7.3 F450 in Montana next week.
Very excited to see these Earthcruiser quad cabs but I couldn't imagine a worse choice of engine platform. Spending that much modding, why not go with the new Ford 7.3 gas or at least one of the upgraded LS engines?

As we keep the original warranty we don't make engine changes and as you've noted Fuso is/has replaced this oil pump moving forward. EarthCruiser modifications are solely to create our proprietary 4wd system. We will also be launching the Isuzu/Chevy V8 soon as well.

Yes, currently EarthCruiser is converting Fuso gasoline trucks to 4wd and they are switching to Chevy (Isuzu) gasoline trucks for the 4wd conversions next year. They sell the truck without the camper if you just want the 4wd conversion done.
