Cruise Control Awd Savana

Ok, after messing with my van trying to figure out why cruise wouldn't work , I finally found out it was not drive by wire. There's a cable coming off the throttle body.

I know it's in here because I saw a post on it before, but isn't there a way to take it to the dealer and get the PCM flashed? Where than the Cruise would work as long as you had the new wiper switch with the 4 pin connector ?

I was the one who took a 2010 to the dealer to get it flashed after adding steering wheel controls. In 2008 they went to a BCM (Body Control Module) and they were all drive by wire. The earlier models had the turn signal controls and only needed the turn signal stock if it is drive by wire, if it isn't drive by wire a throttle servo and control would be needed. Someone on your was going through this and sourced the parts from wrecking yards, but I don't know if he ever got it working. I can't recall who that was, sorry.

I have a 2006, I added the turn signal switch w/ cruise. Wish I could find the thread that you speak of.

What's weird is I saw on a thread from sportmanmobile.... A guy with a 2006 3500 diesel just added the turn signal switch and it worked.

Ok did a little more searching, it looks like the gasoline vans from 2003-2006 don't have drive by wire and need some additional parts. In 2007 the V8 gasoline vans only need the turn signal stock, the v6 models still need more parts. The diesel vans only need the turn signal stock. 2008 to present need steering wheel controls and a dealer flash.

Good info! I have that turn signal switch already. I purchased a brand new oem stalk that has the 4 pin connector like pictured.

I'm guessing it needs more than just that?

Yes, since it is not drive by wire, there is nothing in the van that can control the throttle. I would call them up, they could probably sell you just the parts you need.

That is correct. The GM diesels had drive by wire since the mid or late '90s. I did that exact mod to my '98 diesel Suburban. Plug and play.

Has anybody ever used this for their Awd Savana/Express? This is what you need if you are not drive by wire along with the wiper switch.

I talked to the rep and they offer full tech support if you buy from them. They say it's an easy install, however it doesn't look that easy. You must cut and splice into the brake switch ect.
