I did it to my 2001 w/o problems or dealer, easy.
What all makes it tick... my ‘97s won’t work and I’ve tried a different clock spring and a different steering wheel and it has made no difference.
The sensor on the master cylinder has also been replaced (recall that had been ignored for years).
The dealership said it shouldn’t be too hard to fix... but they also said a wheel alignment would be $70.
After they’d had it for a day, they called and said it needed a bushing that’d be $30. When I came to pick it up they wanted to charge me $400. After a short drive it became obvious that it wasn’t aligned right... so I called and found out the $30 bushing was all they could get from their supplier... it actually needed a 3.5 deg bushing... and it’d be another $300 to complete the job.
Getting to the point... I really don’t want to pay a shop to fix it if I can avoid it.
Are there any fuses, relays, or other sensors? Does something need to be reprogrammed? Could the ‘01 computer I have solve the issue?
As far as I can tell it came with cruise... the wheel that came with it had it... but who knows.
