Cruise Moab Roll Call (legally open to all Toyotas, all vehicles welcome IMO!)

16 Years on ExPo. Whoa!!
Subject says it all, curious how many ExPo members are heading to Cruise Moab. I have and only do one "event" in Moab personally but it is a top notch event, the community is wonderful, and registration was full a month or two ago so you cannot register for the actual events anyway. That said I have run "renegade" (your own friends on your own schedule) a few times and it has been an absolute blast.

So, I'm curious how many ExPo members were planning to go. Secondly, if you have the time to go even if you don't have a Land Cruiser would be cool to maybe run a couple of trails with Expo members of all makes and models. The majority camps at Slick Rock campground (which is a lot of fun) but the BLM campgrounds around town are a blast... I will be running my mountain bike personally for a majority of the time...

Post up if you plan to go or have any questions! Andre

I didn't sign up this year, although it looks like I'll be out there afterall. We're pretty well covered for club volunteers and I can't make it to Moab until Friday night anyway, so they probably won't need me for anything. Instead I'll probably poach a trail this year on the MTB. I'll probably camp along one of the runs, so look for the 'Nest! Thinking about staying along Elephant Hill some place, although I dunno for sure yet.

Perpetual Transient
I'm going to be in Moab from around the 9th till the 14th of April then SLC area till the 20th. Call me weird but I never have been all that excited to attend Cruise Moab or those large types of events. I know there is a lot of fun to be had and comraderie and the like but for me at least, getting out that way is all about getting away from other people and enjoying the landscape. I'm kinda antisocial though :ylsmoke:

Anyway, I always do look forward to the photos from the event, so I hope you post some up Andre.

Agreed, it is the one event I enjoy though personally, and it did an excellent job of introducing me to Moab from an off road persective at least... Sometimes I feel burned out and sometimes I do not not about going but it is fun and at the end of the day I haven't missed it in 5 years, running vehicle or not. :) This year I'm going to ride a bike more often but I get out on the trails at least one or two days and still enjoy it quite a bit. One of the best days I ever had was a couple friends who cruised out to Jackson Hole, went back to town, then out on the potash road into canyon lands, maybe 45 miles easily in just a couple hours, and got the same perspective from both sides of the river, each also literally thousands of feet over the river as well. Completely isolated from the event; back to the discussion about running renegade. :)

I've ridden the bike along with runs on Moab Rim, Flat Pass (Steelbender), Behind The Rocks and a couple of others. It's fun because in a lot of places you move faster than the trucks (certainly some of which is due to group dynamics) and can hang out at obstacles and watch. But then you can drop off or get out in front and don't have to listen to the noise or eat as much dust. Not to mention you can bum beers, water, food, shade when you need it. :) Different experiences, but for the most part I find a day or two of 'wheeling to be my limit. It's the standing around camp kicking tires and telling stories is the reason for the event IMO. Same reason Fruita Fat Tire Festival is fun once in a while, to be surrounded by lots of people who don't think you're a nut for doing whatever it is you do.

I had no desire to go until DaveInDenver said this. Next year for sure.

This is why I go to CM. Fun to see and meet other cruiserheads and whatnot. Cruise Moab is not about solitude but about people. There are some great trails too.

I'll be there a couple of days in my 80 series. Looking forward to seeing everyone.
