CV Joints?

When I make sharp, slow turns I hear a faint noise that i first thought was the knobs from my new tires rubbing on my front bumper. That's not the case. The boots on my CV joints are not torn, but I have to assume it is CV joints.

Anyone have a favorite source for CV joints? PRice?

You've mentioned "boots".

Does this mean you're talking about a Disco II?

Talking with Rovertracks - Keith Kreutzer - last week, he said he didn't do the DII bits, but that Ashcroft did.

Yes. 2002 DII with 71,000.

On another bizzare Rover note, today I washed my engine compartment with a light drizzle of hose water. Actually, very little. As soon as I started it to drive to the store it sputtered, lagged and then came to. When I stopped, put it in park and let it idle, it again sputtered a bit and then the Service Engine Soon light came on.

WHAT NOW!!!

Rovers. Good thing I'm not in the middle of the Sahara.

Did you get the plug wires wet? was the engine hot when you hosed it? Might have got condensation in the cap. Pop off the cap and Give it a shot of WD40 inside and shake it out or wipe it out. Thats what WD 40 is for. ;)

The engine was cold. It really was a small amount of spray. Probably a teeny bit more than driving an a rainy hwy. I'll bust out the Water Displacement 40.

I also changed my air filter since I had a new one laying around. The air box has very little room to unclip and re-clip in place. I wondered if by moving things around, I could have aggrivated the MAF? I guess I'll find out when I get the codes.

no distributor on a dII. there are two coil packs that the truck is constructed around.

The SES light is now gone and she seems to be running as she had. I'm going with the MAF sensor being the culprit. This coming from the most ham fisted non-mechanic on the forum.

So on to CV joints again.
