Dakar Leaf upgrade

I have 2106 Tundra with a Dakar Leaf pack CS055R, Bilstein 6112's and 5100's. I'm set at one notch below the highest. With the weight of the build, the truck sits fully flat on the helper springs, about 1"above stock. The front sits less than 1" above stock. The Springs are not designed for this load. (Was given bad advice on the Bilsteins for a weighted overland rig) I have about #650+ extra at the rear with the bumper, shell and internal frame, roof rack, cargo glide and built-in boxes - before I add any gear.

I have (4) D28XL helpers on the way as well as heavy OME 613 coils and shocks for front and rear. I will be selling the complete Bilstein kit, which has 3,000 miles on it.

My questions, has anyone added 2 additional leafs? Did they fit inside the leaf clamp or did you have to remove the top bolt? Any issues? Did you remove the existing clamp all together and fabricate and rivet in a new longer one? I'd rather do both extra leafs at once if I can guesstimate the ride will be ok, given that I'm sitting so flat now. If you have experience with the Dakar pack and adding a leaf or 2, let me know your experience. Thanks

On older OME leaf springs the extra leaf is added underneath the third leaf demo the top of the pack.

From looking at your photo, it looks like the spring clamps are tall enough to accomadate two more spring leaves. You can remove the cross bolt and leave it off.

Good luck,

Alan

I'm in a 1st gen Tacoma, and not a Tundra. But I have three OME AAL's in my Dakar pack. Two fit fine, but the third is too tight in the spring helpers. Some time soon I'm going to a spring shop to have deeper spring helpers put in.
